I feel as though I was wrongly treated. Can I seek legal action against my doctor?

Full Question: My orthopedist had me go through surgery on my hand after only requesting x-rays and an MRI. The broken bone did not show up on either. The surgery did not help or reveal anything. Afterwards he sent me for a CT-Scan which I later learned is the best test for revealing broken bones. Now I have to undergo surgery again, incurring twice the out-of-pocket expenses and lost time from work. Do I have grounds for legal maneuvers ?
